Watching Students Work

Many of the next few sessions will be work sessions. Today the students are working in iMovie. Next week they will start working on their websites! There will be two workdays associated with those also. During these times, I am mostly here for consultation if needed. I enjoy watching the students work during those days. And I especially enjoy not having to lecture! Demonstrating is much more fun!

Starter Blogs

Yes, I am once again forcing students to blog about this class. I am so evil.

I have, however, experienced the improvement in portfolio reflection quality since I started this so I will be continuing to torture students in this manner throughout the foreseeable future.

Winter '09 EDMT 330

You may already blog all the time. You may already be sharing your entire life with everyone you know, but that's not what this blog is intended to accomplish. The intent of this blog will be twofold:
1. To prove to me you can start a blog.
2. To reflect on each assignment as you produce it and complete it. This will be very useful when it comes time to write your reflections in your portfolio (which is 20% of your grade, you may remember). This way you may remember more about your experiences while completing the assignments when it comes time to actually write about them.

How will this work? You will make your first blog as your assignment here. Then you will email me your blog URL (it will be something ending blogspot.com). As you complete all your other assignments, you will post a blog about the experience, things you learned new, things you found easy to do, things you found difficult, great thoughts you had while completing it, ways you can use your new skills in the future, etc. After each assignment I will check your blog although I may not always leave comments. Your assignments are not really done unless you have blogged about them! Really, this is for your own good, I promise!
